Responsibilities:

• Translate source language into target language accurately and in phraseology relevant to reader location
• Style and tone of translated text should match those of source language
• Source language can be in different format (print, video, etc), but the translated text format is usually in the print format
• Work on a spectrum of subject matter including commercial, educational, medical, legal, literary, scientific and technical
• Research on professional phraseology
• Consult experts in specialist areas
• Report to editor
• Edit and proofread final copy

Requirements:

• Degree in Translation, Language or related discipline
• Minimum 2 years of experience in translation, interpretation, communications or journalism
• Excellent command of two or more languages (including but not limited to English, Chinese, Malay, Tamil, Bengali, Vietnamese, Burmese and Thai)
• Strong writing skills and versatility in different writing styles
• Good understanding of a range of subject matter and in-depth knowledge of language-specific cultures
• Initiative in using dictionaries, reference books and translation softwares as research tools
• Ability to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines
• Attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively with the editor
